An year ago if you were looking to buy a luxury car you really had a few options. Now its forward twelve months and there are a lot of options in the market. The most significant one being the Hyundai Elantra Diesel 1.6 S. Hyundai is up against some stiff competition in this segment, so it has made a car which is exceptionally good looking to draw people into their showrooms. If asked that is this the best looking car in the segment, that’s a very subjective question and is up to you. But its surely one of the best as compared to other models from Toyota and Honda. Hyundai Elantra Diesel 1.6 S looks good as it is without any aftermarket licks and makeovers. It has a lot of swoopy lines and really nice design which it takes from the larger Sonata. You also have the option of larger 16 inch wheels which makes it look more premium and luxurious which you might expect in the compact segment.

The Hyundai Elantra Diesel 1.6 S sort of speedy exterior design flows in into the interiors and you can see it everywhere on the doors, seats and even on the dashboard. There are a lot of fine curves and the interiors are angled beautifully, which gives the car a whole new level of design. Different kind of fine material put together to create an environment of comfort and mental peace. It is the first time we see all this in a Korean compact car. The car also has good storage space. It has a large pocket in the front for your smart phones etc, and that’s actually where the i-POD and USB hookup is placed for convenience. The great thing about this is that all these are standard features. Another feature straight from the factory is the remote keyless entry, an artistic multi-trip meter and power windows, so it’s well equipped.

Hyundai Elantra Diesel 1.6 S’ real claim to fame is it’s fuel efficiency. With 16 kmpl city average and 22 kmpl on highways it is the best in compact car range in the market. Since it is a light car, its handling is pretty good and you can toss it around, but it’s not a sports car. The driving experience is a bit hampered by the power steering wheel which is a bit hazy. Again, it’s not a performance car which is a reasonable trade-off specially for that 22 kmpl average. Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla have a serious competitor on their hands.
