Hyundai Eon Era Plus LPG Variant Review

Very few options are available in the entry level segment, with the launch of Hyundai Eon by the South Korean car maker Hyundai last year yet another entry level hatchback was added to the scanty A segment. The entry level hatchbacks are mostly offered in petrol version only, but Eon is also available in LPG version which was launched in India soon after the company realised that with only petrol version on offing, it would not be able to reach the desired sales number in the domestic market which is no longer known for petrol powered cars.

Hyundai Eon Era Plus LPG is available at a very affordable price; the best part about this hatchback is that despite being an entry level hatchback, it does not look too petite in size. The looks are not at all naive unlike other hatchbacks in this segment. Hyundai has worked hard on the design of the hatchback due to which it has an upper hand on its rivals. It comes powered with an 814 cc, 0.8 litre, LPG engine. The engine is mated to a manual transmission; the hatchback has a fuel tank capacity of 32 litres. Being a petrol hatchback it still manages to deliver a decent mileage that is around 14 kmpl when driven in city conditions and a high mileage of 18 kmpl on highways.

In around 15 seconds, the hatchback runs from 0 to 100 kmph and touches a top speed of 140 kmph. To keep the Hyundai Eon Era Plus LPG price within a specific range, the car maker sure has compromised on the features that are equipped inside the hatchback. One very important feature especially for the Indian climate is present in this trim which is the air conditioner. Power steering is also proffered on this trim; however power windows are given only in the front side and not on the rear side of the hatchback. Cup holders too are given only in the front side of the hatchback, however these are absent in the rear side. Remote trunk and remote fuel lid opener are the two features which are present in Eon Era Plus LPG. Alloy wheels are again not present, which usually are not proffered in entry level hatchbacks since the price has to be low therefore possibility of proffering alloy wheels in the hatchback is bleak. CD player is also not given, driver airbag, front passenger airbag, anti-lock brake system are also absent in this variant of Eon LPG. Central locking is present in this variant which is again an important safety feature.
