Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV Overview

Mahindra & Mahindra has become a brand that proffers SUVs and MPVs in India, with all the huge vehicles under its portfolio it is ‘the’ utility vehicle maker. Mahindra has one of the most selling MPVs under its clan, Mahindra Xylo which is doing pretty well in the MPV segment. Mahindra Xylo got a facelift of late and has also been priced aggressively. Giving Toyota Innova a tough fight, it is a strong contender in the MPV segment. Xylo has aplenty space for the passengers and the boot is huge too. The new Mahindra Xylo comes with enhanced looks, it has shed away the boxy image which it had earlier and now looks more chic and plush. Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV is one of the low priced trims from the range of Xylo. To keep the Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV price low the car maker has excluded many safety features from the MPV which are usually proffered in such huge vehicles.

Housed with a 2.5 litre mDI CRDe diesel engine, the MPV is capable of producing a maximum power of 95 Bhp at 3600 Rpm and 220 Nm torque at1400 to 2600 Rpm. The diesel motor comes with a displacement of 2489 cc and is mated to a five speed manual transmission. Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV has a fuel tank capacity of only 55 litres, which is a little less as compared to other MPVs.

Mahindra Xylo D4 BS IV delivers a fuel economy of only 11.50 kmpl when driven in city conditions, while on highways it offers 14.95 kmpl which is good for a MPV.

The exteriors of the MPV are decent, it comes equipped with features like side stepper, tinted glass, wheel covers, halogen headlamps, rear window washer, rear window wiper, internally adjustable outside rear view mirror and body coloured bumpers.

The interiors of the MPV are roomier and can accommodate 7 people very comfortably inside. A cigarette lighter is given as a standard feature in the trim and a glove compartment is also present in the trim. The low fuel warning light indicates the driver about the low amount of fuel left inside the MPV. A digital clock keeps the passengers and driver informed about the time. Vanity mirror is present on the sun visors, while other features like moulded door trims, fabric door trims, front door pockets, tachometer, electronic multi tripmeter, digital odometer, accessory power outlet are also equipped inside the MPV. The dual tone interiors render a poised feel to the MPV.

Among the comfort and convenience features, the trim is equipped with a powerful air conditioner, presence of rear AC vents make it even more comfortable for the passengers sitting at the back, since the vehicle is huge therefore rear AC vents help keep the interiors cool. A lamp is also present in the luggage compartment along with the rear reading lamp. Remote trunk, remote fuel lid opener is also present in the trim. Height adjustable front seat belts are extremely comfortable to use for the passenger and the driver sitting in the front. Rear seats can be folded to make more space at the back, though it has a spacious boot but it can still be extended if required by folding the rear seats. Cup holders are present only in the front portion of the MPV. Rear seats also come with headrest, power steering, power windows (both in the front and rear side) are present in this trim. Adjustable/tilt steering and adjustable seats are some of the other features of the MPV.

The MPV as mentioned above lacks important safety features like airbags, electronic brakeforce distribution and anti-lock brake system. Safety features like central locking, power door, child safety locks, antiglare rear view mirrors, front seat belts, rears eta belts, seat belt warning, door ajar warning, side impact beams, front impact beams and engine immobilizer etc.

Mahindra Xylo is a great MPV with ample space for the passengers; the air conditioner of the MPv is very effective and powerful. It is a complete family car as it can accommodate 7 people inside the cabin and also store ample luggage.
