Maruti Omni MPI STD Variant Review

Maruti Suzuki India well known as India’s biggest car manufacturer has a wide range of automobiles in its portfolio. Maruti Omni is one of the most popular cars by the company. Maruti Omni MPI STD is the base variant in the Omni range, which is powered by a decent engine and minimal comfort features.

If you look at the car, it doesn’t have much of an appeal as you would expect, but it does manage to stand out of the crowd because of its unique shape and size. The sliding doors for the rear seat passengers are considered as the best part of the car. These doors provide an easy entry and exit for the rear seat occupants. What is more interesting is the space you would find. The car has spacious and roomy interiors. Copious legroom and headroom for the occupants is one of the major plus points in the car. You can stretch out your legs and have a relaxing ride here.

However, the absence of many comfort features takes back a few points from it. Maruti Omni MPI STD doesn’t feature any of the basic comfort features comprising of air conditioner, heater, power steering, power windows, remote fuel lid opener or boot opener. You wouldn’t even find rear cup holder, but the front cup holder is present. The dashboard space is decent and not very disappointing.

On one hand where the interiors of the car aren’t very impressive, the engine section has been equipped well, which cheers up the owner with the mileage delivered by it. The 0.8 litre petrol engine that keeps the ability to churn out peak power of 35BHP @ 5000rpm along generating 6.1kgm of torque @ 300rpm is decent. This engine has been mated with the four speed manual transmission, which doesn’t make the car a power packed performer, but the mileage does make up for all. The mileage delivered on the city roads is 13kmpl, while on the highways, the fuel economy figures are around 19.7kmpl.

Sadly, there are no safety features in Maruti Omni MPI STD, which add on the drawbacks of the car. The only thing that is present in the name of safety in the car is seatbelts and responsive brakes. With the mentioned features, the Maruti Omni MPI STD price is quite competitive and inexpensive, making it a low-priced deal.
