Maruti Suzuki India, a successful Indo Japanese alliance proffers many hatchbacks in India. These hatchbacks are known for their low cost maintenance, affordable price and frugality. Maruti Wagon R is a yet another popular small car from the stables of Maruti Suzuki India that has been present in the Indian car market for a while now.

Wagon R is present in the domestic market in petrol, LPG and CNG trims, however the vehicle is not available in diesel version. Of late rumours were doing the rounds that the car maker will launch diesel version of the hatchback soon, however there has been no further information about the diesel variant of the small car.

Maruti Wagon R VXi is one of the most competitively priced trim that is available for the Indian customers. Maruti Wagon R VXi price is quite similar to the other cars available in the B segment and makes it a strong contender. Equipped with a 998 cc, KB Series K10B petrol motor that produces 68 PS at 6200 Rpm and 90 Nm torque at 3500 Rpm, the hatchback is a frugal option for those looking to buy a affordable hatchback. Maruti is known for rendering cars with good fuel economy figures and Wagon R VXi is no different. Maruti Wagon R VXi can run 14.2 kmpl if driven in city conditions, which is quite good as compared to other hatchbacks in the same segment.

On highways, the hatchback returns 18.5 kmpl which is again impressive specially for a car with a petrol heart. This trim is available in manual transmission only, it has a fuel tank capacity of 35 litre. At this price, Maruti is offering a quite a few features though central locking is the only safety feature that is present in this trim while rest other safety features like airbags, anti-lock brake system are absent in this trim.

On the exteriors, alloy wheels are also absent leaving the car look a little unfinished from outside. Air conditioners comes standard in Wagon R VXi trim, apart from this power steering is also given. Power windows are present in front as well as in rear side also. Cup holders are present only in the front side and not in the rear side. Remote trunk, remote fuel lid opener are also present, the interiors of the hatchback are decent. Overall it is a decent hatchback with ample room for the passengers sitting at the front and at rear side.
