Renault Pulse RxL Petrol Overview

The return of the French car maker Renault Motors in India has been exciting; the company has launched all five products which it had planned to launch in India within 18 months of the first launch, Renault Fluence premium sedan. Renault also has a premium hatchback in its portfolio, Renault Pulse which is a rebadged version of Nissan Micra. A part of the premium hatchback segment, Renault Pulse was first launched in India in diesel version during the 2012 Auto Expo which concluded in the month of January in New Delhi. The hatchback was also launched in petrol version later; Renault Pulse RxL is one of the variants offered in petrol guise. Renault Pulse RxL petrol price is placed a little high for a petrol hatchback also it does not offer a lot of features which are proffered in other hatchbacks of the same segment.

Renault Pulse RxL is powered with an 1198 cc, 1.2 litre, DOHC, 12 valve, 3 cylinder, In-Line petrol mill. The mill can pump out 76 PS at 6000 Rpm and 104 Nm at 4000 Rpm. The engine is mated to a five speed conventional petrol engine and the hatchback has a fuel tank capacity of 41 litres. The petrol trim, RxL delivers a pretty good fuel economy of 14.2 kmpl in city conditions and 18.6 kmpl on highways which is excellent. Renault Pulse RxL petrol takes 14.2 seconds to propel from 0 to 100 kmph and touches a high speed of 158 kmph.

The exteriors have a huge similarity with Nissan’s Micra hatchback specially the rear which is exactly the same. Though Renault has made some styling changes in the front fascia, the French car maker is known to give an up market touch to its cars and that is what precisely it has done. The exterior features include halogen headlamps, internally adjustable outside rear view mirror, body colored bumpers, wheel covers, tinted glass and integrated antenna. However, other important exterior features like, fog lights, rain sensing wiper, alloy wheels etc are absent in this trim.
 
There is ample space inside the hatchback and has the capacity to seat five adults comfortably. The dual tone interiors are impressive which are well equipped with features like moulded door trims, fabric door trim, front door trim, front door pockets, tachometer, electronic multi-tripmeter, digital odometer and accessory power outlet. Other features include a low fuel warning light that lets the driver know when the fuel is low in the vehicle. Also a digital clock is present in the RxL petrol trim and vanity mirrors are also equipped in the RxL petrol variant. A CD player is affixed along with a MP3 Player and AM/FM radio, also an audio system remote control is provided to operate the music system through a remote. Speakers are fixed on both the front and the rear side of the premium hatchback.
 
Comfort and convenience features like air conditioner, power steering, power windows (which are given in both front and rear side of the hatchback), cup holder are also present in front and rear side of the trim, remote trunk and remote fuel lid opener are other comfort features that are equipped inside the hatchback. Among the safety features, a driver airbag and central locking are the only two significant safety features proffered in the RxL petrol variant. Overall, though the hatchback is a little expensive for a petrol hatch but it comes with a number of comfort features. The fuel economy delivered by the RxL petrol trim is good enough.
