Tata Motors’s popular hatchback, Tata Indica has seen so many modifications in the past few years. The frugal hatchback is rendered in petrol and diesel versions giving ample choice to the Indian customers who are always keen to buy low priced cars with high fuel efficiency. Tata Indica fits the bill and the Tata Indica eV2 which was launched in India last year in the month of March is an apt example of value for money.

Tata Indica eV2 Xeta GL trim despite being a petrol powered car delivers a decent fuel economy. In city conditions it runs 13.5 kmpl while on highways it delivers around 18.4 kmpl which is extremely good considering that it is equipped with a petrol engine.

The Indica eV2 Xeta comes armed with a 1193 cc, 1.2 litre, MPFI petrol engine. The petrol motor can engender 65.3 PS of power at 5000 Rpm and 99.8 Nm torque at 2700 Rpm. With a fuel tank capacity of 37 litres, the hatchback is available only in manual transmission. Tata Indica has had a cabbie image from the very beginning due to its naive exteriors. Though, the company has made many changes to the looks of the hatchback to shed this cabbie image. Also the interiors have been spruced up to give an upmarket feel. Step inside the car and you will realise that it has ample space for rear passengers too. Boot space is also capacious to store luggage for four people.

The acceleration and pick up of the hatchback is decent, the Tata Indica eV2 Xeta GL vrooms from 0 to 100 in 15.8 seconds which is not very impressive but decent enough. Also it achieves a top speed of 156 kmph. To make Tata Indica eV2 Xeta GL price affordable, the car maker has given very few features inside the car. Surprisingly, even air conditioner is also not given in this trim which is a very basic comfort feature. Power steering has also not been equipped in the hatchback.

Power windows are not present in front as well as rear side of the hatchback. Cup holders are present only in the front while these are absent in the rear side. Remote trunk and remote fuel lid opener are also incorporated in the hatchback. To lower down the price of the hatchback, CD player, alloy wheels are also missing from this trim. Central locking is also not present in this variant, other safety features like airbags and anti-lock brake system are also absent. This is a very basic hatchback which very few features, ne has to splurge extra money to customize it according to their needs.
