Toyota Etios Liva G Variant Review

Toyota, which is known for its premium cars, launched the low cost Toyota Etios Liva hatchback in India last year. This is the very first hatchback from Toyota in India that is proffered in both petrol and diesel engine options. A part of the premium hatchback segment, Etios Liva was a highly anticipated hatchback in the Indian car market. However, it could not perform as good as the company had anticipated, Liva was launched as a strong competitor to Maruti Swift as it is the best selling hatchback in premium hatchback.

Toyota Etios Liva G which comes powered with a petrol engine capable of pumping 80 PS at 5600 Rpm and 104 Nm at 3100. The petrol engine is the 1.2 litre, 3NR-FE that comes with a displacement of 1197 cc. The petrol motor is mated to a conventional five speed manual transmission; the hatchback comes with a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres. Toyota Etios Liva G price is placed a little high for a petrol powered hatchback.

Despite being powered with a petrol heart, the hatchback delivers a high fuel economy of 15 kmpl when driven in city conditions while the hatchback returns 18.3 kmpl when driven on highways. The hatchback vrooms from 0 to 100 kmph within 13.5 seconds and attains a maximum speed of 158 kmph.

The exteriors of the hatchback are decent and the rear is broad and has square shape tail lamps. On the exterior front, the hatchback comes equipped with features like halogen headlamps, internally adjustable outside rear view mirror, body colored bumpers, body colored tailgate handle, body colored door handles, wheels covers and tinted glass. Alloy wheels are not offered as a standard feature in this trim.

The comfort and convenience features include an effective air conditioner, air quality control, power steering, adjustable/tilt steering, power windows which are given in the front and rear side of the hatchback. Other comfort and convenience features include adjustable seats, rear seat headrest, cup holders are also given in both front and rear side of the trim, folding rear seats, remote trunk, remote fuel lid opener and height adjustable front seat belts. CD player is absent however speakers are present in front and rear side of the trim.

The interiors are roomier and can accommodate five adults comfortably. The interior features include moulded door trims, front door pockets, electronic multi-tripmeter, digital odometer, accessory power outlet, low fuel warning light, digital clock, fabric upholstery, glove compartment and cigarette lighter.

Safety features like driver airbag, front passenger airbag, anti-lock brake system, electronic stability control are absent from this trim. Features which are present in Toyota Etios Liva G trim comprise of central locking, power door locks, child safety locks, antiglare rear view mirrors, front seat belts, rear seat belts, door ajar warning, side impact beams, front impact beams, keyless entry and engine immobilizer.

Overall Toyota Etios Liva is a premium hatchback that has ample space for the passengers and also has a capacious boot. The hatch has an affordable price tag and delivers an excellent fuel economy in both petrol and diesel variants.
