Answer for this queation

Hi, My daily commute is 30km. I would like to go for diesel or CNG, which one is better? I heard that CNG vehicles do not have pickup as diesel and petrol, is it true? What is the CNG mileage on an average for hatch back; which diesel hatch is better in mileage point of view, figo or beat or ritz or swift (real mileage, dont want ARAI). Please suggest me which one is better CNG or diesel?

Dear Sanjay,

You should go for a petrol-LPG car as you major commute is within city limits and with 30 kms per day running its not a good idea to opt for a diesel run car. Here you can go with Chevrolet Beat Petrol-LPG version. It delivers better practical mileage of around 13-15 kmpl (18.6 kmpl--ARAI) alongside superior drivability and totally modern looks inside-out. But still if you choose diesel model you should grab the recently launched New Maruti Ritz diesel, that will easily return you an overall mileage of about 17-19 kmpl (23 kmpl--ARAI). However on an average CNG mileage for a 1.2L displacement car should be around 22-25 km per kg.

If i choose for Swift/Ritz (or any other car) Petrol varient, is CNG is suggestable after market? How will be the pickup and speed in city and highway? My concern is that there will be no resale value for CNG vehicles if CNG is fitted after market. Is it true? I am prefering CNG why because CNG price is very low and mileage is high comparing to LPG. Please suggest me on CNG pickup and resale value of vehicle....

Dear Sanjay,

Though it is not advised to get a CNG kit fitted from outside/local vendor, however practically people do get it fitted and face nearly no concern. We suggest you to go with diesel engine of Swift/Ritz as mileage seem a serious concern of yours. The maintenance of Maruti Swift diesel or Maruti Ritz diesel won’t let you down they are pretty refined and come with DDiS technology that ensures long life with refinement, better mileage and lesser maintenance.

On the CNG part the pickup will be affected slightly compared to petrol as CNG takes some time to get into rhythm and after certain rpm it comes aligned to that of petrol. The resale value does affect a bit, but being a Maruti brand Swift/Ritz, which is always in demand, you not be sadden with the resale price you get.
