Dear Rahil,
As you travel about 1000 km per month then any Petrol variant car will prove to be good for you. Diesel car though will cost you less in terms of fuel expense but will high on maintenance. The amount that you will save on fuel plus some more cost will get compensated on the maintenance part.
I remember one incident when one of my friend who owe a diesel car use to change the piston every 5-6 years or every 90,000-1, 00,000 km and this use to cost him double the cost of petrol car piston that comes at half the price of the former and there is no need to see it before 15-16 years or nearly 2, 00,000 kms. Hence, the mechanical spares of diesel motor also cost more apart from the noisy and irritating engine. Also, when it comes to resale value of petrol car one gets a good price against the half of diesel car.
And two most beneficial features of using a petrol car, first is that in future if you want to opt for any eco-friendly fuel alternate in the form of LPG or CNG the Petrol engines tune in very well compared to diesel engine with most of them are not compatible. Secondly, if you are bit environment conscious petrol emits a lot less pollution when compared to diesel.
