First of all Renault Duster is not pitted against any SUV available in the market, same as Maruti Ertiga. The way Ertiga cannot compete with Toyota Innova same way Duster can’t challenge the dimensions and capabilities of Mahindra XUV 500. What Renault Duster can do is eat away some market share of the stalwarts SUVs like Scorpios, XUV500s and Safaris present in the segment. This vehicle has created a new niche for itself as Ertiga did, and it’s an entry level mini SUV with feel and of a larger one. On the whole it’s an applauding effort and initiative by Renault India.
