While driving a diesel car in the city is it okay to shift directly from 1st to 3rd gear or from 2nd to 4th gear. Will this cause engine damage?

Dear Sujata,

It’s your car and your wish. But these sorts of activities may hamper the performance of your engine in the long run. The result of going in sequence can never be the same as in an unorganized manner. It can also affect the overall mileage and also the car will ask for maintenance every now and then, since the things were not put to use as per the standards of the company. So try following these standard rules as some rules are not meant to be broken, preferably followed.
