The hatch I was looking for……
Pros : interior comfort, amazing looks, ample space with large boot
Cons : ground clearance 165mm, suspension
Hello all, I am Suresh Chopra and I have purchased Hyundai i20 hatchback some two months back and I am pretty satisfied with what I have got, as it is the most premium hatchback car in the segment. Earlier, I was also considering Volkswagen Polo, but the high maintenance and service assurance forced me to go with i20.
What I have is Hyundai i20 Magna (O) Diesel. Initially I use to think that at Rs 6.50, ex showroom Delhi I did a costly deal, but this mid model is just the perfect for any car buyer with features like power windows for all, power steering, automatic climate control with fantastic AC and great music system.
Till now I have clocked around 3100 kms and no issues with maintenance part also it is delivering a cool mileage of 17 kmpl (with AC on, in Delhi conditions), which so relieving. The demerit is with two things first one is that the steering is too light in the second gear especially at high speeds and is not able to pull with full force, need to shuffle around 1st and 3rd to get it right..
Another thing is suspension that is too soft and makes you realize most of the pot holes and do not allow you to zoom at high speeds along with low ground clearance that at times bumps into the ground while passing through a speed breaker. The suspension and steering issue was done by the civilized service centre guy at Hyundai service center but the ground clearance remains as I have to be careful at speed breakers.
Overall the Hyundai i20 Magna is superb hatch to drive at higher speeds on the highways, which I experience after the fixing of the steering problem, and pretty good in city rides too. Go for it if you are looking for practicality in every sense especially if you are a family of 5 because there is too much space around in the cabin.
