Swift Dzire: Good but not too good
Pros : Good fuel economy, low maintenance, powerful engine and enough boot space
Cons : Rear seat legroom, high price and loose build
Hi, it has been over a year since I have been driving Maruti Swift Dzire VDi. With my experience, I can say that this car is a mixture of pros and cons, that one must consider prior purchase. I will start with the positive factors of this car. My Swift Dzire diesel gives efficient mileage of 18 – 19 kmpl in city conditions and over 23 km/l on highways. I think that it is good to have a car with such great mileage. As far as maintenance is concerned, I must say that Dzire VDi has got quite nominal rate of maintenance compared to cars like Vento Diesel and Etios Diesel. The 1248 cc engine of this car has got extreme power and torque. You can feel the power at a genuine acceleration on highways. Furthermore, the boot space of more than 400 liters can adjust much of your luggage.
Now coming to the negative factors, first of all I would say that the cost of Swift Dzire VDi model is too high comparative to the base variant. I think that according to additional features installed, it should have been around 50,000 rupees cheaper. In addition, the rear seat of this car is much stiff with less legroom that troubles three passengers sitting on the back seat. Though, the Dzire has got attractive looks with perfect front and rear designing, I think that the metal sheet used in the car is slightly cheaper than its rivals. The company should focus on enhancing the safety parameters of this car and no modification should be done in its looks.
