Hyundai Eon Vs Maruti Alto; Is it a battle fought on uneven grounds?
Hyundai Eon; the most compact and cheapest car from the stable of South Korean carmaker has now hit the Indian roads. The small car was termed as the prime competitor of the Maruti Suzuki Alto. Before the launch, speculations were made that the compact vehicle from Hyundai will dethrone the 11 year old regime of best-selling car Alto; which is offered in 800cc as well as K-series engine (K-10) with 1.0L displacement.
A sort of cut throat competition was expected out of this battle of two, but the pricing and other facts that have come out say something else. Let’s go through some major truths about the two vehicles before we give our final verdict.
Exteriors
The length of Hyundai Eon is same as the base level 800cc Alto but smaller in length when compared to the Alto K-10. But looking at the appearance point of the two cars, Hyundai takes you to delight peak it at its first sight. It is sportier and advanced as compared to bit-aged look of Alto.

Interiors
If someone is asked to peep into the interiors of Eon, he will easily say that these interiors are not of a small car, because they have a kind of premium touch added to it with everything properly placed. On the other side Alto interiors are simple and seem acceptable. The quality of the plastic used in Eon is sturdy and way ahead that of Alto which at one point looks delicate.

Engine and Specifications
The Eon surpasses Alto in this segment as well, it comes loaded with 3-cylinder 814cc MPFI petrol engine while Alto offers a simple 798cc Bharat Stage IV certified engine. The peak power generated by Alto is 46.4 bhp at 6200 rpm which is left behind by the maximum power of Eon; 55.2 bhp at 5500 rpm. Both offer similar 5-speed manual transmission. Now the crux; fuel efficiency, as validated by ARAI Alto offers 19.73 kmpl, which is enhanced in the latest launched Alto Xplore i.e. 20.2 kmpl, but still not ahead of Eon which offers 21.1 kmpl.

Price
The pricing of the both compact cars commences with the base variant of Hyundai Eon D-Lite which is priced at INR 2.69 Lakhs, whereas Alto 800 standard comes at INR 2.35 Lakhs. The top-end variant of Alto; the K10 VXi, is priced at INR 3.20 Lakhs, on the other hand Eon Sportz is tagged at a price of INR 3.71 Lakhs. An approximate price variance between in the range of INR 30-50 Thousand can be seen, but you cannot ignore the features you acquire by paying this extra buck for well-groomed Hyundai Eon.

The Final Verdict
The choice of your compact car depends up on your budget and mind-set, if you are looking for a small car which is actually not small in terms of visual appeal and grace then the car made for you is the eternal Eon. But if you want to get each of your saved penny count and you are walking on a tight rope in terms of funds, then Alto is a better option with the best base pricing.

Both the exterior and interior looks of Hyundai Eon are better than Alto. And even with a little bit of higher price range, the Hyundai Eon Sportz have got the advanced features than the Alto K10 VXi.
True. Agree with the sayings that Hyundai Eon is having better and advanced features than Alto. Most important thing that I look for in a car is safety features and I think Hyundai Eon having the proficient safety features. It is having air bags which are missing in Alto.
