Isuzu MU 7 Review by Expert
Isuzu, a commercial vehicle and heavy truck maker that hails from Tokyo in Japan is evaluating options to foray in the Indian car market. The vehicle maker is pondering to bring its SUV christened MU-7 in the Indian car market. The muscular SUV will gun straight against the likes of Force One and Toyota Fortuner which implies that it will have a huge stance. In a time when compact SUV are being rolled out in India, Isuzu MU-7 will stand out with its rugged and robust look. The SUV looks appealing and seem long from side view.
However, the front of the SUV looks huge and massive, on the lines of the full grown SUVs already present in India. On the contrary, the rear is comparatively mollifying and conventional. MU-7 weighs 2515 kg and has a length of 4955 mm, with this height and weight it is inevitable to ignore the SUV amid heavy traffic. SUV word is synonymous with big, it means ample space for passengers and to store luggage as well.
The cabin is not that impressive as one would expect, it is rather austere looking. Dashboard is also very simple and has numerous places to store which is a positive point. Interiors of the SUV do not have that upmarket feel as in its contemporaries like SsangYong Rexton and other SUVs in the same segment. However the car maker has bestowed the SUV with premium features that include chic leather seats, an extravagant sound system along with a fabulous entertainment system at the rear that comes with screens.
Inside the SUV there is enough space for the passengers as the wheelbase of the SUV is huge, around 3050 mm, therefore it allows lot of headroom and legroom space. There are three rows in the SUV, the second and third row too are capacious. The Isuzu MU 7 SUV is powered by a 3.0 litre, 2999 cc turbo diesel engine that belts out a maximum power of 163 PS at 3600 Rpm and a high torque of 360 Nm. Though the SUV is heavy in weight but it offers good performance. Within 10.7 seconds, the SUV propels from 0 to 100 kmph and touches a top speed of 175 kmph. The powerful diesel engine of MU7 is mated to a five speed manual transmission and is offered in only 4X2 version. The SUV has been priced at INR 24,17,000 (ex-showroom Hyderabad), which is competitive enough. Isuzu MU-7 is available in three colour options like Black, Silver and White. The top end version of the SUV is the only trim that will be imported this year. MU-7 will be brought in India through CBU route and will be imported from Thailand.
