Skoda Rapid: Facelift on the cards of company

April 25, 2014: With an objective to face the increasing competition in market, Czech car maker is going to bring facelift version of Rapid in Indian car market by the end of this year. Although company has not yet revealed any information about the changes that will be introduced in the facelift version but it is speculated that apart from continuing the existing engine configurations company may also offer an automatic version of Rapid with this facelift.

December 26, 2013: Czech car maker Skoda is going to launch the special edition of Rapid sedan codenamed as Rapid Ultima in Indian car market during the month of February 2014. The special edition will be introduced in elegance model of diesel variant and will carry the same engine configuration as available in existing model of elegance in diesel variant.

Skoda Rapid Engine, Power and Performance

As mentioned above, the Skoda Rapid will be available in both Petrol and Diesel variants. Both Petrol and Diesel Engines will hold an engine capacity of 1.6 L and will generate a bashing power of about 105 PS. The torque will be variable with respect to the engine technology used. So far less is known about the engine details of the car.

The pick up and acceleration of Skoda Rapid is quite impressive. The 1.6 Litre, 1598cc, DOHC petrol engine of the car enables it to cross the 100 kmph mark in just 10.7 seconds and to touch the top speed mark of 188 kmph. On the other hand, the pick up of its diesel sibling which is also equipped with the same capacity 1.6 Litre diesel engine is bit low as compared to petrol, but it can also cross 100 kmph mark in speedometer in 11.2 seconds and can touch the top speed mark of 183 kmph.
