After enjoying a huge success in the Indian car market, the home grown carmaker launched the facelift version of the Nexon EV in India. At first glance, it’s clear that the facelifted Nexon was designed with the EV version in mind. The connected LED DRLs with a full-width light bar makes it look completely different from its first version. The integration of the charging status indicator not only gives it a more premium look but also gives it a futuristic touch. The sharper front bumper with dark chrome vertical elements further enhances its EV identity.

 

The notable feature on the front fascia is the removal of signature blue accents present on the older Nexon EV. The presence of blue accents was a signature of the electronic Nexon. This step paved the way for the introduction of a wider and more tasteful colour palette, including standout shades like Empowered Oxide, Daytona Grey and Creative Ocean. Apart from subtle ‘.ev’ badging, the Nexon EV continues to carry its muscular stance and SUV similar to ICE ICE sibling.

 

Build quality remains a strong point. The panels feel solid, doors shut with confidence, and overall fit and finish is reassuringly robust.

 

 

Moving inside the cabin of the Nexon EV, especially when you enter inside its higher variants, you will realise its premium touch. The minimalist dashboard design, two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and tasteful use of leatherette padding create an almost luxury-SUV vibe. The material used in developing the interior is undoubtedly of high quality. The presence of soft-touch surfaces, premium upholstery and an attractive colour combination further enhances the cabin experience. Although the lighter interior themes may require extra care in Indian conditions, they undeniably enhance the sense of space and sophistication.

 

 

The front seats are wide, supportive and easy to access. Thanks to the placement of the battery pack under the floor. The front seats are placed a little bit at a high position, which at one side, helps in improving the road visibility but at the same time minimises the space for headroom. Seats are comfortable for almost all types of people, though very tall occupants may find shoulder support lacking.

 

At the rear, space is adequate for four adults. There is substantial space for knee and headroom, but under-thigh support could have been better, especially for long journeys. While three adults can sit at the back if needed, the Nexon EV is best enjoyed as a four-seater family SUV.

 

 

Tata has not left any stone unturned in making the interiors of the Nexon EV the best in the segment.

 

The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system is the best unit Tata has ever offered — fast, crisp and intuitive. Powered by a Qualcomm processor and running Android Automotive, it supports Tata’s Arcade.EV app ecosystem, allowing access to apps like YouTube, Prime Video and Hotstar while charging or parked.

 

The 10.25-inch digital driver’s display offers EV-specific graphics and seamless map integration, making navigation effortless. Add to this a superb 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, JBL 9-speaker sound system, wireless charging and a panoramic sunroof, and the Nexon EV is beautifully equipped all these features. 

 

 

With 350 litres of boot space, the Nexon EV is practical enough for family use. It can accommodate a standard set of suitcases, though very large luggage may require some planning. Higher variants also offer a frunk, adding to usability.
