8th Generation Of Toyota Camry Hybrid Launched In India
Finally the Japanese carmaker Toyota has launched the eighth generation of its best selling sedan Camry Hybrid in the Indian car market with the starting price of Rs. 36.95 lakh (ex-showroom, price). Developed on the completely new Toyota New Global Architecture-K (TNGA-K) platform, the new Camry Hybrid receives an extended look than compared to its outgoing version. The front fascia receives the V-shaped look followed by the Toyota logo placed at the center of the bumper, with huge air dam placed just below it.
Under the hood, the new Camry Hybrid continues to be offered with the existing 2.5 litre petrol engine, that is capable of boosting the power of 176 bhp and the torque of 221Nm at 5,700 rpm and 3,600-5,200 rpm respectively. The petrol engine is supported by an electric motor that develops the power of 118 bhp and the torque of 202 Nm. The new Camry Hybrid is endorsed to deliver the fuel-efficient performance of 23.27 kmpl. The transmission duties are performed with six-speed CVT transmission system. The new Camry Hybrid will go against its existing contenders mainly Skoda Superb, Honda Accord Hybrid and Volkswagen Passat.
Inside the cabin, it receives completely new outlook in the form of new dashboard, eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, three-spoke steering wheel with mounted controls for audio, telephony and cruise control, and also ten inch heads-up display (HUD). On the safety front it is equipped with ABS+EBD, ten airbags as standard features, thus making the generation 8th Camry, miles ahead from its predecessors in terms of safety.
On the exterior front it is embellished with sweptback headlamp console that is equipped with bi-beam LED projectors and three LED DRLs. Similar to the front fascia, the rear portion also receives aggressive looks in the form of flared fenders, raised spoiler with sleek LED tail lamps.
