A new sub Rs 12 lakh electric car from Tata Motors
Tata Motors is well known for its interminable innovation in substitute fuel technologies like hybrid vehicles and electric powered cars. Tata Motors in the past developed few of the electric cars like the Tata Indica Vista EV and Tata Manza electric hybrid. Fresh speculations suggest that the company is now developing a brand new electric car which would be priced around Rs 12 lakh; Tata might commence the production of this car soon.
The new electric car from Tata Motors is being developed by the IT fragment of the company, Tata Technologies in alliance with the renowned 3D and product lifecycle management software firm, Dassault Systemes. The project has completed the initial feasibility test of this new electric car using with the help of Dassault Systemes’ 3D platform.

Kevin Fisher, President Vehicle programs and Development Group, Tata Technologies stated that the company is working along with Dassault Systemes to with a team of brilliant engineers from across the world in order to meet the design and cost limitations. The engineers are also working hard to keep the price tag under $20,000.

The company also mentioned that it has completed the first electric Mobility (eMO), which implies that soon this electric car can go into production and along with that it could also come with an affordable price tag. This electric car is not confined to one market but it is being referred as a global project and over 300 Tata technologies engineers handpicked from countries like India, US and Europe are working towards the development of the new electric car.
Dassult Systemes Executive Vice President, Monica Menghini also mentioned that Tata Technologies is an important business collaborator for Dassault Systemes and this new innovative electric car project is an epitome of how the company’s 3DEXPERIENCE platform is important to their alliance with Tata Motors for expedited development.
