BMW to assemble 1 Series and new 7 Series locally, launch next year
It seems that BMW thinks India its second home and why not when the country has given the title of the largest luxury car maker to it. Now in an attempt to maintain its numero uno position in the country, BMW will be assembling the BMW 1 Series and the BMW 7 Series locally starting next year. This will help bring the cost of these BMW cars down and it will also cut the delivery period. Besides, this will strengthen its operations in India and thus it will be able to maintain its position against Mercedes Benz, Audi and Volkswagen which is also creeping into the luxury segment giving some worry to BMW.
Such disclosures came at the launch of the new
BMW X6 crossover that was launched at a start price of Rs 78.9 lakh. BMW also opened new dealership at Faridabad and it is believed that with BMW coming in action suddenly means that there are some indicators that are worrying it. As per the reports, the new car 1 Series will be launched in India sometime during May-June while the 7 Series BMW car will be launched around Diwali next year. Both the launches are crucial to India and most importantly the 1 Series which is highly anticipated in the country as it will be the entry level BMW car. The expected price of the 1 Series model is around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh and at this price people will swarm in to buy a BMW car.
Thus the 1 Series small family car is believed to change the face of BMW and this car is believed to bring success much more than what the
BMW X1 and
BMW X3 have brought. In addition to this, the car maker will then be able to give a tough fight to Audi and Mercedes Benz which have also set a hectic launch schedule next year.
