The German carmaker BMW has taken the wraps off its all-new iX3 electric SUV at the Indonesia Motor Show 2026. The SUV is developed on the company’s new Neu Klasse architecture. The iX3 represents BMW’s next step towards a more advanced electric and digitally connected vehicle lineup. Its headline features include a claimed range of up to 805 km on a single charge and support for ultra-fast 400 kW DC charging.

 

 

The new BMW iX3 50 xDrive comes with BMW’s 6th generation eDrive technology and has a 108.7 kWh cylindrical cell battery pack. The electric SUV has a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup which gives around 469 horsepower and 645 Nm torque. Even with an SUV profile, BMW boasts that the iX3 has a 0 to 100 kmph acceleration time of just 4.9 seconds, making it as much about performance as it is about range.

There are more highlights for the new iX3. The electric SUV supports 400 kW DC fast charging that enables it to charge sufficient power for up to 372 kilometres of drive within 10 minutes under appropriate conditions. The battery is claimed to charge from 10% to 80% in just 21 minutes. The iX3 also supports V2L function that enables the battery to deliver power to external devices.

The iX3 incorporates a minimalist style, incorporating the iconic BMW kidney grille, thin horizontal LED lights, and flush door handles. Aerodynamics have also been a consideration, and this SUV boasts an impressively low drag coefficient of 0.24. With a length of about 4.78 metres, the electric SUV has a luggage space of 520 litres in the rear. However, folding the seats increases the luggage space to about 1,750 litres, while there is also a 58-litre trunk located at the front.

Inside, BMW is fitted with its latest Panoramic iDrive, which operates with OS X. It has a centrally placed free-cut display screen, a new-generation multifunction steering wheel, and a 3D Head-Up Display, which displays important information before the eyes of the driver.

In addition, the vehicle features a 360-degree camera, radar sensors for safety, and an AI-powered voice-assisted personal assistant. The company has also increased the amount of recycled materials used in the manufacture of this car.

 

The new iX3 could strengthen BMW’s position in the premium electric SUV market, particularly against luxury EV rivals from Mercedes-Benz and Audi. Its combination of an 800-km-plus claimed range and 400 kW charging capability could make it an attractive proposition for buyers seeking both long-distance usability and performance.

BMW has not confirmed an India launch timeline for the new iX3 in the report. However, if the model eventually arrives in India, its long-claimed range and advanced technology could make it an important addition to the country’s growing luxury EV segment.
