Facelift Mahindra XUV700 Caught Undergoing Test Drive
The domestic carmaker Mahindra is readying to launch the first facelift version of its luxurious SUV XUV700 in the country by next year. The first prototype of the SUV was spotted undergoing a test drive on Indian roads recently. As the model under testing was heavily camouflaged it was difficult to locate the changes that would be introduced in the facelift XUV700. According to sources the updated model will feature a bold new front grille with more slanted vertical slats compared to the current version.

The version used during the test drive is reported to have round-shaped headlamps, reports suggest that these are borrowed from the Thar Roxx for testing purposes. The final version is expected to sport a redesigned headlamp setup. The side and rear profile of the testing unit almost looks the same to the current XUV700, it is believed that new features might be added as testing progresses.
Inside the cabin, the XUV700 facelift is expected to receive major changes inspired by the electric SUVs — the XUV.e9 and BE.6 from the carmaker. The facelift version is speculated to come with features like a triple-screen layout, an upgraded Harman audio system, ventilated seats in both rows, advanced ADAS Level 2+ capabilities, and even a self-parking function.
Mechanically, the updated XUV700 is expected to retain its current engine options. These include the 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine delivering 197 bhp and 380 Nm, and the 2.2-litre turbo diesel unit offering 182 bhp and 450 Nm. Transmission duties will continue to be handled by a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Mahindra has not officially confirmed the launch date of the facelift XUV700, industry experts believe that it will debut in 2026. It is also speculated that based on Mahindra’s evolving naming strategy, the refreshed model might be rebranded as the Mahindra XUV7XO. As testing continues, more prototypes and details are expected to emerge in the coming months.
