Formula 1 fever; Caterham motorsports cars zooms in India

Formula 1 needless to say, is such a grand event on which every automaker especially sports carmaker would relish to cash upon. On 27th October, UK based sports car manufacturer Caterham Cars whizzed into the Indian auto industry with their two models namely ‘Caterham 7’ and ‘Caterham SP/300R’. These two build-to-order models will be offered in a price bracket of INR 28 Lakhs to INR 90 Lakhs. Initially the two models will go on sale in New Delhi in the month of March 2012.

The Britain based Caterham Cars; a renowned motorsports brand name in UK, is coming to India in association with Burman brothers; the promoters of FMCG giant Dabur in the country, who will be entitled to take care of the firm’s business in India.

As per Mr. Ansar Ali – Managing Director at Caterham Cars, a perfect platform is set for an introduction of a motorsports company in India, as the nation is hosting its first ever motorsport event; Formula One. The brand will surely prove to be an affordable choice to the motorsports passionate people in India, he added.

Mohit Burman and Gaurav Burman along with a British resident, Matt Cummings; who will be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for operations in Caterham Cars India, seem confident on gathering success in India. The company has considered Greater Noida as their assembly unit and also intends to launch its famous motorsports academy in India to create awareness of the brand.

The company rates the prospering auto sectors in India and China as the most favorable for its products in the coming years. An annual sale of 10,000 units is the target of Caterham Cars India in the upcoming five to seven years. To provide a glimpse of car to the spectators present at the F1 event, prototype version of Caterham SP/300R sports racing car will be showcased.

In India premium luxury brands like Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW contend with Caterham Cars of United Kingdom.

The car race was awesome but bit disappointed as India won't get the winning price. Waiting for the launching of two new models in 2012.
