India made Volkswagen Vento gets 5 Stars at ASEAN NCAP Test
Where at one side five major cars existing in Indian car market failed to get any star in global NCAP test, on the other side the luxurious sedan Vento developed by Indian arm of German car maker Volkswagen has succeeded in getting 5 stars in recently conducted ASEAN NCAP Crash test. The India made Vento has been recently launched in Malaysian car market and is being sold as Polo Sedan is various South East Asian countries. According to reports the unit of Volkswagen Vento tested was its 1.6 litre variant embellishing ESC, the unit succeeded in getting five starts in adult occupant protection test. The version of Vento used during test was same as used in 2013.
As it is mandatory for cars that being sold in ASEAN and equipped with ESC feature to clear ASEAN NCAP test, it is expected that now 1.2 litre variant of Vento with ESC will also succeed in getting the same ranking as enjoyed by its powerful version. It would be interested to know that alike its earlier tests, the sedan scored 4 stars in child occupant protection tests. The crash test was conducted at the speed of 64 kmph.
The safety features offered in made in India Volkswagen Vento being sold Malaysia are dual front airbags and ABS as standard feature followed by side airbags on comfortline variant. Both 1.6 litre MPI and 1.2 litre TSI engines generate the power of 103 bhp and mated with six speed manual gear transmission system and seven speed DSG automatic transmission system accordingly.
