India To Get First E100 Flex-Fuel Car On June 5, 2026

With the government of India moving towards electric mobility and the use of E85 flex-fuel petrol, the country’s leading carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India, is going to launch the nation’s first E100 flex-fuel passenger car on June 5, 2026. The news regarding this was confirmed by Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in a statement. Every year, June 5 is celebrated as World Environment Day throughout the world.

It is believed that the introduction of flex-fuel vehicles will not only support cleaner mobility but also reduce India’s dependency on conventional fossil fuels. Although the Indo-Japanese carmaker has not yet disclosed the name of the upcoming model, it is speculated that it could be either WagonR or the Fronx flex-fuel concept showcased during the international auto shows.

Flex-fuel vehicles are designed to operate using different blends of petrol and ethanol. The new Maruti Suzuki model is expected to run entirely on ethanol, making it India’s first E100-compatible passenger car. This development follows the government’s push toward alternative fuels and sustainable transportation technologies. Nitin Gadkari has repeatedly highlighted the importance of green energy and alternative fuel technologies in transforming India’s transportation ecosystem.

If launched successfully, the new flex-fuel car could open the door for more ethanol-powered vehicles in the Indian market and encourage other automakers to invest in cleaner fuel technologies.
