Indian Auto Expo 2016: Volkswagen to showcase 3 door Polo GTI, launch in September
Name of Polo hatchback has become the replica of German car maker Volkswagen since its inception because of its appreciating performance. Now once again the hatchback is in limelight and that is because of its completely new avatar which is going to soon get disclosed in front of car enthusiasts. According to recent reports the car maker is going to showcase the three door variant of Polo GTI during the forthcoming Indian Auto Expo 2016 slated to held February this year and will launch it later during the month of September. The reports also reveal that German car maker also plans to bring the five door version Polo GTI after assessing the response from Indian car enthusiasts.
To be energised with 1.8 litre, four cylinder TSI engine boosting power of 189 bhp and torque of 320Nm, the 3 door hatchback will be brought through completely built unit form and is assumed to be offered with price tag of Rs. 20 lakh. The engine would be mated with seven speed DSG transmission system. Talking about the features adorned in this three door hatchback it is reported to embellish features like newly developed bumpers at both front and rear ends, LED DRLs, honeycomb radiator grille, rear spoiler, chrome garnished dual exhausts tailpipes and many more. Inside the cabin it will receive new steering wheel, sportier seats and newly developed instrument cluster which are not offered in existing version of Polo.
Expressing his views on unveiling of new three door Polo, Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, "We want to keep it very pure; a hot hatch that offers performance, technology and comfort. I know that there is a compromise here, but people who buy this car, which is a fairly costly car, will have other cars in their garage to load five people on a regular basis,"
