Mahindra Initiates Free PUC On World Environment Day

On account of World Environment Day, Mahindra, the renowned carmaker, is providing complimentary Pollution Under Control (PUC) checks at all its dealerships across the country on June 5 and 6, 2023. The PUC checks, conducted using specialized Pollution Checking Machines (PCMs), analyze the exhaust gases of vehicles to assess pollutant concentrations that may harm human health.

Through this initiative, Mahindra aims to emphasize its dedication to environmental awareness and sustainability. Over the past few years, the company has implemented numerous measures to minimize its environmental impact, contributing to a greener future.

One notable initiative undertaken by Mahindra in September of last year involved partnering with Shell for a waste oil recycling program. Initially implemented in 13 dealerships, the program has successfully recirculated 49,780 liters of waste oil to date. Through this partnership, Shell collects used oil from Mahindra dealerships and ensures its circularity through its network of partners. Building on its success, Mahindra expanded the program to an additional five dealerships last month, further strengthening its commitment to sustainable practices.

Moreover, Mahindra has embraced the mECO car wash program, a water conservation initiative. By limiting water usage to just one liter per wash, the carmaker achieved significant water savings. In fact, it saved an impressive 33.30 million liters of water last year alone.

In a separate development, on World Environment Day, Mahindra's last mile mobility division flagged off 100 Treo electric autos from Begumpet, Hyderabad. In line with their commitment to electric vehicles (EVs), the company plans to invest ₹1,000 crore in phases to establish an EV facility in Telangana. This facility will be Mahindra's second manufacturing unit dedicated to EVs, in addition to the one located in Pune, Maharashtra. The Telangana facility will produce electric three-wheelers, including the popular Treo, as well as electric four-wheelers.
