After showcasing its two upcoming SUVs Jimny and Front in the recently concluded Auto Expo 2023, the country’s leading car manufacturing company Maruti Suzuki is readying to launch both of them in India by the end of this year. According to reports, since their showcase, both SUVs have received an encouraging response from Indian buyers. The Indo-Japanese carmaker has so far received more than 10,000 bookings for the highly awaited SUV Jimny and 4,000 bookings for the Baleno-based SUV Fronx. The company started receiving the bookings of these SUVs immediately after unveiling them at the Auto Expo 2023.
In the words of Shashank Srivastava Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, "The response has been great, especially for the Jimny, as also for the Fronx...we are getting bookings for the Jimny at the rate of around 1,000 per day. We have so far got over 11,000 orders for Jimny”.
To begin with Fronx SUV, it will be offered in a petrol variant with two engine options. The first one will be a 1.2-litre engine outsourced from the Baleno. This engine will generate a power of 88 bhp and a torque of 113 Nm.  The transmission duties will be performed by a five-speed manual gear transmission system followed by an option of a five-speed automatic transmission system. Another engine option will include a 1.3-litre Booster Jet Engine churning the power of 98 bhp and a torque of 147 Nm. It will also receive the same five-speed manual gear transmission system followed by an option of a six-speed torque convertor AMT system.
Speaking about the Jimny SUV, it would not be wrong to say that with Jimny the carmaker has lots of hope, especially after receiving people’s response at the Auto Expo. It will come equipped with a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine developing a power of 103 bhp and a torque of 134 Nm. It will receive an option of a five-speed manual gear transmission system, and a four-speed torque converter AMT system. The SUV will receive a four-wheel drive system as a standard feature. After launching in India, it will directly go against the Mahindra Thar, which at present dominates its segment.
