Mercedes Benz B Class launched

The German car maker has launched the Mercedes Benz B Class 180 in Kochi. The B Class is a sports tourer and Mercedes has big plans for this car in the country. At the launch ceremony a lot of glitterati including Rima Kallingal and Remya Nambisan unveiled the new Mercedes car. Notably, this is another unveil of the model after it has been recently unveiled nationwide by Mercedes and the car will be launched in India in September. The B Class will be the entry level Mercedes car in the country and it will be giving tough time to its arch rivals BMW and Audi besides the MINI cars in India.

Mercedes alike BMW and Audi has laid a hectic plan for the coming two three years and in these years there will be a lot of new car launches that will bring down the entry level car price to under Rs 25 lakh. The B Class is a significant addition to the fleet of Mercedes cars and other car makers are also gearing for similar low priced car launches. Significant among these is the BMW 1 Series and Audi A3 hatchback. Though all these will be coming in a period of two to three years, but it is certain that these will certainly increase the share of premium car sales in the overall car sales in India.

The B Class will be imported as is but the company believes that the car will be priced as if it is produced locally. This will help the car maker to have an edge over other cars such as recently launched and successfully selling Audi Q3 besides the segment player BMW X1 and the range of Mini cars. The B Class price should land between Rs 25 lakh to Rs 26 lakh.
