MG Motors Launches Hector Tomahawk EV In India
JSW MG Motor India has launched the new MG Hector Tomahawk EV in India at an introductory price of Rs 19.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The new electric SUV is available with both five- and seven-seat configurations and claims a driving range of up to 517km on a single charge.
MG Hector Tomahawk EV Price and Battery
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV is powered by a 69.2kWh LFP battery pack. The company claims a MIDC range of 517km on a full charge. The electric motor produces 204bhp and 310Nm of peak torque, giving the SUV a strong combination of performance and everyday practicality. MG is also offering the electric SUV under its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) ownership plan. With this option, the starting vehicle price drops to Rs 13.99 lakh, excluding battery rental charges. This could make the Hector Tomahawk EV more accessible to buyers looking for a large electric SUV without paying the complete battery cost upfront.
Five- and Seven-Seater Options
The new electric SUV is offered in two seating layouts. The five-seater version provides 610 litres of boot space, while the seven-seater gets 528 litres of space with the third row folded. This gives buyers the flexibility to choose between additional passenger capacity and luggage space. The Hector Tomahawk EV is also the first MG model in India based on the company's ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology) architecture. The platform has been developed to support multiple types of electrified powertrains, including EVs and plug-in hybrids.
Features and Technology
The MG Hector Tomahawk EV comes with a technology-focused cabin and a range of modern features. Key highlights include a large 15.6-inch display, i-SMART connected technology, a 10-speaker audio system and voice-assistant functionality. Safety equipment includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS features. The SUV also offers vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, adding further practicality for customers using the vehicle for outdoor or utility purposes.
MG Hector Tomahawk PHEV Also Launched
Alongside the EV, JSW MG Motor India has also introduced the Hector Tomahawk PHEV. It combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 20.5kWh battery pack and is offered exclusively with seven seats. MG claims an electric-only range of more than 115km and a combined driving range exceeding 1,100km. The Hector Tomahawk PHEV is priced at Rs 25.69 lakh (ex-showroom), while the BaaS option brings its starting price down further. With both EV and PHEV versions, MG is expanding its presence in India's growing electrified SUV market.
