MINI Cooper India, the Indian alliance of British carmaker Mini Cooper has teased the images of its first electric vehicle on its social media platform. The company has named the upcoming vehicle a Mini Cooper SE. There are rumours that the company will launch the vehicle soon in the Indian car market. The company had revealed the first version of Mini Cooper SE in the international market in 2019. It is the first electric vehicle by the subsidiary of the BMW group in the Indian car market.

 

 

Under the hood, the Mini Cooper SE will drive the power from a 32.6 kWh lithium-ion pack battery. This battery will generate a power of 181 bhp and a torque of 270 Nm. With a top speed of 150 kmph, it is capable of touching the mark of 100 kmph in 7.3 seconds. According to company sources the Mini Cooper SE can travel up to 235- 270 km after a single charge. The electric unit of SE is 145 kg heavier than its petrol variant.

 

On the exterior front, it receives the features like a black coloured front grille surrounded by chrome. The new “E” badge replaces the existing “S” badge. The side profile receives a set of new alloy wheels. The fuel lid cover is now replaced by a charging socket. The other existing Mini Cooper signature features like the round-shaped headlamps with integrated DRLs. round-shaped ORVMs, Union Jack inspired LED taillights are retained in the new Mini Cooper SE. It doesn’t continue the existing exhaust pipe.

 

Inside the cabin, it outsources most of the features from its sibling MINI Cooper 3-Door. However, in MINI Cooper SE the buyers can expect a round-shaped centre console with an integrated touchscreen infotainment system. This will be offered as an option, along with the existing multi-functional steering wheel and a digital console.

 

According to sources of the company with the help of an 11 kW Charger, the MINI Cooper SE can be charged up to 80 per cent in two and a half hours. It will take almost 3 hours to charge the battery. With the help of a 50 kW charger, the charging time can be reduced up to 35 minutes. It is expected to be priced close to Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom price). In India, it will be brought as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and will go against the likes of Audi e-tron, Mercedes-Benz EQC, and Jaguar I-Pace.
