New age Ambassador ready to take on modern rivals

The iconic Ambassador model that has been one of the most preferred car models among the political class in the country for a long time is all set to be launched in a new avatar in the Indian market soon. The industry sources claim that the new Amby will be introduced with a length of less than 4 meters so that it can qualify for a lesser excise duty segment. This will help the company in reducing the price of the car considerably, enabling it to compete more promptly with the new age rivals of the car.

Powered by a common-rail diesel engine, the new Ambassador model will be blessed with high level of comfort inside the car with specious interiors. On the other hand, the retro look will add to the style of the car, strengthening its stance against modern rivals. The car is expected to be powered by a 1.8L Petrol engine and a 1.5L diesel engine that will be compatible with BS4 emission norms. It will hit the Indian roads by the first quarter of next year.

In addition to this, the company is also planning to launch a refreshed Ambassador model in the country. HM has hired a Pune based design studio to bring-out the new avatar of the Amby with new design and style.

The car is expected to come featured with a range of styling and safety features including Antilock Braking System (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), multiple airbags, newly designed steering wheel and leather seats. The same engine units mentioned above are expected to be added in this refreshed Ambassador.
