New Skoda Octavia 2013 model spied, launch soon

The Skoda Octavia has been in the news recently following its spy shots and the test runs ahead of its launch next month. The car is one of the products on which the Czech car giant is bullish on and expects it to return some good numbers just as other Skoda cars in India including Skoda Rapid and Skoda Fabia. Expected to be priced around Rs 10 lakh, the Skoda car will be competing with Maruti SX4, recently launched Renault Scala, Tata Manza and the lone Italian offering Fiat Linea. This will be the new Octavia/Laura that will be launching soon and it is expected that it will do the success as it did during its earlier spell. 

The spied Octavia car is the 2013 model car and it is based on the Audi A3 platform which is the MQB platform. Apart from the new platform, the new Octavia also has a lot of other changes as well. The new Octavia is based on the latest VisionD concept that is also the futuristic car concept of the car giant. The normal change areas such as the front grille, headlamps and the tail lamps have all received a touch of perfection and these have been reprofiled in order to make the Octavia anew. 

The sharing of platform with Audi and its parent Volkswagen cars will let the car maker lower its price and it is expected that it will be offered at a much lower price than expected. On the other hand, the new platform will make the Octavia more light in weight and agile as compared to the present generation Laura. This will also help the car maker cut the production cost in several areas. The new Octavia is 250 mm longer and has an extended wheelbase besides the improvement in leg space and knee space at the front.
