Nissan Micra production hits one lakh mark in Chennai
Nissan Micra, a popular hatchback from the Japanese car maker Nissan was first launched in India in July last year. Since then, the company has sold around 15,000 units in India, and about 70,000 units have been shipped to overseas market.
Kou Kimura Nissan Motor India Managing Director and CEO of Chennai plant said that the Chennai Staff have done an appreciable work of producing 1 lakh units in just 1 year.
He also said that it is a mark of Nissan Micra’s popularity, in both Indian and overseas market.

The Japanese firm is also planning to launch a new global sedan in the Indian market and later next year, in cooperation with Ashok Leyland, they will also be launching a vehicle for commercial purposes.
They have also set up a production firm at Oragadam, and have spent a hefty sum of Rs 4,500 crores. This plant is set up under a collaborative move of Nissan with Renault, the French Car maker.
The Chennai plant currently has a capacity of producing 2 lakh units and it is reported to be doubled up soon.
Beside Chennai, Nissan Micra is also produced at Mexico, Thailand and China.
Some of the popular hatchback models in the Indian auto market are Ford Figo, Maruti Swift, Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Volkswagen Polo. Apart from these popular models, cars going to hit the Indian roads this year are Toyota Etios Liva, Maruti Cervo and New Ford Fiesta.
