Range Rover Electric To Offer 600 KM Range
Jaguar Land Rover is set to strengthen its presence in India's luxury electric vehicle segment with the Range Rover Electric. The fully electric SUV has been introduced in India with bookings open across multiple configurations. It combines the premium design and comfort associated with the Range Rover brand with strong electric performance, an extended driving range and impressive off-road capability.
Dual Electric Motors Deliver Strong Performance
The Range Rover Electric comes with a dual-motor setup featuring two 260 kW permanent-magnet electric motors. Together, the motors generate a maximum output of 405 kW and 850 Nm of torque. The luxury electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in around 4.5 seconds. It can also accelerate from 80 to 120 kmph in approximately 2.7 seconds, offering performance comparable to a powerful petrol-powered luxury SUV.
Up To 600 KM Range
Powering the Range Rover Electric is a 118.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack equipped with 344 prismatic cells. The battery uses an 800-volt electrical architecture and is claimed to deliver up to 600 km of range under the WLTP testing cycle. The company also claims that the SUV can provide a real-world range of at least around 535 km, although the actual range may vary depending on driving conditions, road conditions, temperature and driving style.
Fast Charging Capability
The Range Rover Electric supports high-speed DC fast charging. With a 350 kW DC charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 22 minutes. According to the company, just 10 minutes of charging can add around 220 km of driving range. This capability could make the SUV more suitable for long-distance travel, where shorter charging stops are important.
Designed For Off-Roading
The Range Rover Electric retains the off-road capability for which the Range Rover family is known. The SUV can reportedly tackle water crossings of up to 900 mm. It also gets a twin-chamber air suspension system and a single-pedal driving mode. The electric SUV is claimed to handle gradients of up to 33 degrees and rolling climbs of up to 45 degrees, highlighting its ability to operate beyond regular urban driving conditions.
Multiple Variants Available
Bookings for the Range Rover Electric have opened in India in multiple configurations. The range includes the Autobiography trim with a short-wheelbase version, while the long-wheelbase variants include SV, SV Ultra and SV Black. JLR is also offering a warranty of up to eight years or 1,60,000 km on the propulsion system, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
Extensive Testing Before Launch
The Range Rover Electric has undergone extensive testing to assess its performance, durability and reliability. Jaguar Land Rover says its prototype and test vehicles have completed more than 1.5 million kilometres of physical testing. The company has also carried out more than 2.5 lakh hours of virtual testing. The electric SUV has been tested in extreme temperatures ranging from -40 degrees Celsius to 90 degrees Celsius as part of its development programme.
With a long driving range, powerful dual-motor setup, fast-charging capability and strong off-road credentials, the Range Rover Electric aims to bring the luxury and versatility of the Range Rover brand into the electric vehicle era.
