Rio diesel BSIV launch by this month

Premier is doing all it can it boost sales of its sole SUV Premier Rio in India. It has the petrol BSIV version and now the Indian car maker is generously testing the BSIV diesel version of the same. Thus it can be inferred that Premier Rio diesel BSIV version will be launched this month. The first compact SUV and in seniority the predecessor of Renault Duster and Ford Ecosport, Rio has never managed to sell like hot cakes. And now that it is about to be challenged by more competent players such as these two, Rio is doing whatever it can to preserve its presence in the segment. Fiat is expected to have supplied the 1.3 L multijet engines to Premier to be fitted in the Rio.

The launch of the Rio diesel BSIV is expected to open up a huge market for the mini SUV and thus it will be stand in competition with other upcoming incumbents such as Ecosport and Duster. Both the later will be catering to the same segment as Rio is currently and it is believed that these two will revolutionize the segment. Now that Maruti has set a benchmark with Ertiga and it will be soon proved that the good things served at low price do better in India. Though it belongs to a different segment but the principle is the same and applies to the compact SUVs as well.
