Skoda Confirms The Launch Of CNG Rapid This Year
Czech carmaker Skoda has confirmed the launch of Rapid CNG by the end of this year. The company has four new launches in the pipeline for the Indian car market, including the compact SUV Kushaq. The news regarding the launch of these four new vehicles and the Rapid CNG was confirmed by Zac Hollis, Directors, Sales, Service & Marketing. According to reports the spies have already captured the Rapid CNG being tested on the Indian roads.
The Rapid is empowered with a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine boosting the power of 108 bhp and the torque of 175Nm @ 5,500 rpm and 1,750 rpm respectively. It is believed that the CNG variant will come with the company fitted kit. The transmission duties will be performed by a six-speed manual gearbox which will be standard. With this, there will be also an option of a six-speed torque converter. The company is already selling the CNG variant of Rapid enriched with a 1.0-litre TSI engine in some of the European countries. This variant generates the power of 89 bhp. It is believed that the same variant will also be launched in the Indian car market.
The reports reveal that the CNG kit will be offered only in the entry-level variants that will be embellished with some of the impressive features. The CNG variant receives the features like dual front airbags, 2-DIN audio system, rear defogger, height-adjustable seatbelts and a few more. The Rider plus variant will be equipped with climatronic technology with a filter, and some additional features.
