Skoda Rapid launched at starting price of Rs 6.75 lakhs
Premium car maker Skoda has launched its much awaited mid-size sedan Skoda Rapid in the Indian auto market. The all new Rapid model has been launched both petrol and diesel version in the price segment of Rs 6.75 lakhs to Rs 9.19 lakhs. The company had recently started production of Rapid sedan at its Chakan plant near Pune. The car will be competing with a large number of models available in its segment including Maruti SX4, Nissan Sunny, Honda City, Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna, Toyota Etios, Fiat Linea and Tata Manza.
The petrol version of the car is powered by a 1.6 liter MPI engine which is capable of outpouring a peak power of 105 hp along with a peak torque of 153Nm @ 3800rpm. On the other hand, the diesel version of the car is powered by a 1.6 litre turbo diesel engine which delivers a maximum power of 105 hp along with a maximum torque of 250Nm between 1500-2500 rpm. While the petrol version of the car is offered in both 5 speed manual and 6 speed automatic transmission options, the diesel version is carrying only 5 speed manual transmission.

In total the car is offered in 8 variants including three manual transmission petrol variants (Active 1.6 MPI MT. Ambition 1.6 MPI MT and Elegance: 1.6 MPI MT), two automatic transmission petrol variants (Ambition 1.6 MPI AT and Elegance 1.6 MPI AT), and three manual transmission diesel versions including Active 1.6 TDI CR, Ambition 1.6 TDI CR and Elegance 1.6 TDI CR.

The pricing figures of the different variants of the car are as follows :- Active 1.6 MPI MT : 6.75 Lakhs; Ambition 1.6 MPI MT : 7.09 Lakhs; Elegance: 1.6 MPI MT : 7.99 Lakhs; Ambition 1.6 MPI AT : 8.09 Lakhs; Elegance 1.6 MPI AT : 8.99 Lakhs; Active 1.6 TDI CR : 7.95 Lakhs; Ambition 1.6 TDI CR : 8.29 Lakhs, and Elegance 1.6 TDI CR : 9.19 Lakhs.
