Tata Nexon EV Tops The Segment In March 2020
The Nexon EV compact SUV from domestic carmaker Tata Motor has dominated the segment in March 2020 by selling out 198 units before the commencement of nationwide lockdown since March 21, 2020. The second and third positions were captured by MS ZS EV and Hyundai Kona with 116 units and 14 units sold respectively during the same month.
With the starting price of Rs. 13.99 lakh, the Tata Nexon EV is available in three trims namely XM, XZ+, and XZ+ LUX, the XM trim is priced Rs. 14.99 lakh, while the XZ+ LUX comes with the price tag of Rs. 15.99 lakh. All the prices are ex-showroom prices. The outbreak of COVID-19 has started affecting the economy of the country.
Mechanically, the Nexon is empowered with Ziptron powertrain mated with a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack studded on the front axle. The engine generates the power of 129 bhp and the torque of 24 Nm and capable of delivering an average of 312 km on a single charge. It is capable of touching the mark from standstill to 100 kmph in 9.9 seconds. The battery takes 8-9 hours in charging through standard 15A AC charger and up to 80% in an hour through DC fast charger.
The major features offered in Nexon EV includes auto headlight and wipers, height-adjustable driver’s seat (offered in the top two trims), an eight-speaker Harman sourced audio system. It is also equipped with ZConnect connectivity suits that offer the facility of enjoying 35 extra features including a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, keyless entry, and power-adjustable folding mirrors. Along with all these features, the carmaker is also offering a 3 three years warranty or 1.25 lakh kilometer warranty ( whichever happens earlier), following by five years extended warranty pack. The motor and battery are also offered with a warranty of eight years or 1,60,000 km.
