Tata Tiago EV Hit Twice By Batters During IPL2023
The domestic carmaker Tata Motors was the official partner of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. With this the carmaker also initiated various activities including '100 Reasons To Go With Tiago EV', aiming to promote the use of electric vehicles. The homegrown carmaker also displayed the Tiago EV hatchback in all 12 stadiums where the IPL matches were played and announced to donate Rs 5 lakh each time the ball hit Tiago EV parked in stands. The car was hit twice during the matches.
First, it was hit by a six from CSK batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad while playing against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The second time, it was hit by Nehal Wadhera during a match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. With these two hits, the company will now donate Rs 10 lakh to encourage the biodiversity of coffee plantations in Karnataka. The final of the tournament was played on May 29, 2023, with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) holding the trophy for a record fifth time.
Speaking about the Tata Tiago EV, it comes equipped with two battery options including a 19.2 kWh offering an average of 250 km, while the second with an option of 24 kWh offering an average of 315 km on a single charge. Both variants are available in four trims namely - XE, XT, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. The electric hatchback is named the 'Fastest Booked EV in India' for receiving 10,000 bookings in just 24 hours after the commencement of bookings by the company and recording total bookings of 20,000 units by December 2022.
