Tata to start sales of Safari and Sumo in Latin America
In a recent development, Tata Motors announced that they would soon be launching their popular SUVs, Tata Sumo and Tata Safari, which have gained huge market sales from the Indian Auto market in Latin America. The move is expected to happen before the end of this year under the Joint Venture of Fiat and Tata.
Currently, Fiat and Tata have a Joint Venture operational in the Indian market which was signed back in October 2007 and this venture will be manufacturing SUVs for the Latin Market.
Mr. Rajeev Dube, President of the passenger car business unit for Tata Motors commented on the move and said that the Joint Venture is seeing a great potential for Sports Utility Vehicles in the Latin American Market but it is too early to reveal the plans of the company at this time.

Earlier, Mr. Ravi Kant, MD of Tata Motors had also revealed some plans of the company to manufacture products at an international level along with Fiat.
The product manufacturing is still an unanswered question.

Speculations are that they may be developed at Fiat’s existing plant in Cordoba, Argentina or the Joint Venture might set up a new plant in Latin America. Whatever the case may be, Fiat will have a key role to play and the products will be developed at a later stage.
Tata Motors has constantly been eying the international market to increase its sales of passenger and commercial vehicles.
Also, Tata Motors might launch its cheapest 4-seater car, Tata Nano in the international markets of Southeast Asia and Pacific region and in the Latin America in the next 4 years.
