Toyota Initiates The Bookings Of BS-VI Compliant Innova Crysta
Toyota Kirloskar Motors, the Indian alliance of Japanese car maker Toyota Motors has initiated the bookings of BS-VI compliant Innova Crysta MPV before its launch by the end of January 2020. Going through the enforcement of new emission norms from April 2020, most of the carmakers within the country are upgrading their existing engine line-up according to the new norms.
As far as details regarding the integration of the BS-VI compliant engine are confirmed nothing has been so far revealed by the carmaker, but it is believed to be offered with improved power generation efficiency. The existing Innova Crysta is empowered with 2.7 liter, 4 cylinder petrol, and 2.8 liter, 4 cylinder diesel engine boosting the power of 164 bhp and 148 bhp respectively. The transmission duties might include the option of both a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox.
With the introduction of a new BS-VI compliant engine, the prices of Innova Crysta are also believed to witness the hike from 15% to 20%. The existing BS-IV compliant petrol variants GX MT and ZX AT are priced Rs. 14.93 lakh and Rs. 21.03 lakh respectively, while diesel variants G Plus MT and ZX AT are offered with the price tag of Rs. 15.67 lakh and Rs. 22.43 lakh respectively. All these prices are ex-showroom prices in New Delhi.
Apart from upgrading the Innova Crysta with the BS-VI compliant engine the company also plans to launch a new compact SUV as a part of its collaboration with Maruti Suzuki India Limited. The compact SUV is proposed for launch in 2022 and will go against the likes of Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta.
