Volkswagen Launches Virtus Anniversary Edition In India
The German carmaker Volkswagen has launched the Virtus Anniversary Edition in India to celebrate four years of the sedan in the Indian market. Priced at Rs 19.20 lakh (ex-showroom), the special edition is based on the top-spec GT Plus Sport variant and gets several cosmetic and feature upgrades. Production is reportedly limited to just 150 units.
Volkswagen Virtus Anniversary Edition: Design Updates
The biggest highlight of the new Virtus Anniversary Edition is its exclusive Avocado Pearl exterior colour. Volkswagen has paired the new shade with a contrasting black roof and black alloy wheels, while red brake callipers and a black boot-lip spoiler add to its sporty appearance. The sedan also features gloss-black treatment on the front bumper, along with darkened headlamp and tail-lamp housings. Inside, the car gets an all-black cabin with gloss-black dashboard inserts.
Features and Safety Equipment
The Anniversary Edition retains most of the equipment offered with the GT Plus Sport variant while adding a few extra features. These include puddle lamps, front parking sensors and a 360-degree camera system. Other key features include leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, red ambient lighting, a powered sunroof, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an 8-inch digital driver's display. Automatic climate control, an eight-speaker audio system and paddle shifters are also offered. Safety equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control, traction control, hill-start assist and ABS with EBD.
Engine and Gearbox
The familiar 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine powers the Volkswagen Virtus Anniversary Edition. It produces 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque and comes exclusively with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. Volkswagen claims a fuel efficiency of 19.62 kmpl for this engine-gearbox combination. Unlike the standard Virtus range, the Anniversary Edition is not offered with the 1.0-litre TSI engine or a manual transmission. With its limited production, distinctive Avocado Pearl colour and additional equipment, the Virtus Anniversary Edition is aimed at buyers looking for a more exclusive version of Volkswagen's midsize sedan without a mechanical upgrade.
