Fiat India is a 50-50 alliance between Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A and Tata Motors. The pact between both the companies was inked on October 19, 2007. Fiat cars are produced at the Ranjangaon plant located in Maharashtra and has a capacity to manufacture 100,000 cars and 200,000 engines along with components and aggregates. Out of three Fiat cars available in the Indian car market only Fiat Linea sedan and Fiat Grande Punto are produced locally in India while the premium hatchback Fiat 500 is imported as a completely built unit from Turin Italy. Fiat cars in India have not been able to completely impress the customers; few of its cars like Fiat Uno, Fiat Siena and Fiat Palio were phased out from India. The company eyes to sell around 130,000 units annually by 2014 in India. Fiat car prices in India are reasonable and are competent enough to rival its counterparts. Fiat was selling its cars through Tata Motors dealerships; however the company decided to go solo in order to enhance its brand image in India. Fiat has launched its first Fiat Cafe in New Delhi and second Fiat Cafe in Pune, Maharashtra. Also Fiat recently inaugurated its first independent dealership in Hyderabad.
