Skoda Auto India is a completely owned subsidiary of Skoda Auto and a division of Volkswagen Group Sales India. Skoda forayed in the Indian car market in 2001 with Skoda Octavia sedan. The company has its manufacturing facility located in suburbs of Aurangabad, the manufacturing plant has a capacity to produce 40,000 Skoda cars. The company shares this manufacturing unit with Audi India. Skoda cars in India are sold through 70 dealerships spread across India. Out of the five Skoda cars being sold in India, Skoda Laura, Fabia and Rapid are manufactured locally in India. While premium sedan Skoda Superb and premium SUV Yeti is imported as completely built units. The only thing that is criticized about the company is the Skoda car prices in India which are tagged a bit too high that other cars in India. Skoda Rapid, recently launched sedan car, won various accolades which include, ‘Sedan of the Year’,’ Family Car of the Year’ and ‘Premium Compact Sedan of the Year’
