Pros : Great mileage, economical, AC
Cons : rough handling
Recently I got a chance to have my hands on the new Maruti Swift Dzire Zxi, that left me wondering and with the following conclusions.
Exterior: Dzire’s exteriors are same as its hatchback cousin. Its front fascia is almost same as Maruti Swift. The only modifications areflashy chrome grille and slightly sharper design headlamps. But as we move to side view, Dzire is completely redesigned. Its doors are bigger as compared to its hatch and window glass area is larger and it makes its buyers feel roomier. Its front seats are very comfortable but its rear legroom is very disappointing and feels very cramped. Its boot lid is a chrome strip connecting the two vertical tail lamps. Its tail lamp gets a boomerang design and its indicators get horizontal touch. Also suspension adds the feature to bear the additional weight.
Dzire is not very good about the ride quality; it means you have to slow it down over pot holes and bumpy roads. But the body roll is well under control.
Interiors: The interiors of sedan attract most of the attention by its luxurious looks. Although the steering wheel is adopted by its hatchback sibling, the topend variants that now come with standard steering are included in this version. The new music system well integrated into dashboard is definitely a thing to talk about. The newly featured headlights-on reminder, centre and front cabin lights, vanity mirror, rear seat center armrest, and front electric power windows will attract you. Also more features like front Airbags, ABS with EBD brake assist, Rear Window Defogger, Adjustable tilt steering, and Automatic Climate control are available in ZXi and ZDi models.
The seats are comfortable but talking about rear leg space disappoints its users. The rear leg space is little cramped and the sedan lacks comfort for the back seaters. The AC is very effective and add to the car’s luxury. So Dzire’s interiors look and feel good.
Engine: Dzire comes with three petrol unit variants and three diesel unit variants. The petrol engine is a 1298cc 16-valve In-line 4 that delivers power of 87 bhp@6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 113 Nm@4500 rpm. And diesel variants get a 1248cc turbocharged DDiS engine that generates power of 75 bhp@4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 190 Nm@2000 rpm.The gearbox is also inherited from Maruti Swift, so the sweet shifting action makes your ride comfortable and smooth. So overall driving experience of the car is good.
Performance: The car is fuel efficient and gives you a comfortable experience. Also talking in terms of mileage, petrol variants gives 12 kmpl in city and 17 kmpl on highway. The diesel variants give a mileage of 14 kmpl in city and 19kmpl on highway. The Suspension and wheelbase of the car is good and also the overall make of the car gives a good road clearance.
Conclusion: The car provides all nice features in a reasonable value. Although cramped rear seat is the only drawback in it, I would forget that in front of all other features in such a low price.
