BMW X2 coming in 2014 will take on upcoming SUV Audi Q2
It seems that the war between the three luxury car makers viz. Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW is out in the open and intense. Where Audi is planning to launch the Audi Q2 mini crossover soon, BMW has also lined up the BMW X2 for a 2014 launch in India. Whereas Mercedes Benz has already brought in the Mercedes Benz M Class in India and now it seems that the real SUV war among the luxury car makers is about to begin. Meanwhile, the Audi Q3 launched this month has bagged overwhelming response and despite being Rs 26.21 lakh car, people have swarmed in to buy it and preferred it over the BMW X1 following its new features.

The Audi Q2 will be the smallest of the three Audi SUVs – Audi Q3, Audi Q5 and the big brother of all SUVs Audi Q7. In the Indian market, the Q2 will be competing with the X2 to be launched by BMW. Also, it seems that the two car makers have set India as their war turf and are heading to it with their warheads on after the other. The Audi Q3 being the recent addition to the lineup. The Sports utility car BMW X2 on the other hand will be an entry level BMW car in India just like the Audi Q3 has become entry level Audi car in India.

As per the initial information regarding the shape and size of the X2, it will be on the design patterns of the X1. Thus it will inherit the sloping roofline from its senior. Overall, the BMW X range and Z range design patterns will be vociferously manifest itself on the new BMW car X2 and we can expect it to take on a relatively different proportion than the X1. Though in the absence of any official information about the X2 by BMW only little can be said but it is sure that it will be repeat the history as the X1 did in India.
Meanwhile, in the entry level SUV segment in India there is one upcoming SUV that will reverse the car sales slowdown trend in India, Renault will be launching the Renault Duster on July 4. This is a compact SUV that will be changing the face of SUVs in India and will be triggering the entry level SUV segment that was till now solely governed by Premier Rio that being a Chinese offering is struggling for sales and could succumb to the fate after the biggies such as Duster, Maruti XA Alpha and Ford Ecosport arrives in the later part of the year and early next year.
