Chevrolet Beat: The most fuel efficient car in India
Records are meant to be broken. This quote must have been the source of inspiration for General Motors, when it surpassed the record mileage of 25 kmpl achieved by Tata Indica eV2 and Tata Indigo eCS, with its Chevrolet Beat diesel. The trendy hatchback from General Motors recorded a fuel efficiency of 25.44 kmpl, by which it outclassed its earlier own record of 24 kmpl. This miraculous mileage was achieved when it put for the re-test at the International Centre for Automotive Testing (ICAT). With this fuel economy of nearly 25.44 kmpl, it has become the most fuel efficient hatchback car in India.

As per the US based auto major, this optimum mileage with the diesel engine of Chevrolet Beat was attainable after some upgrading and a slight squeeze provided to the 1.0L power-train. Due to this enhancement the engine now has lesser frictional losses in other parts of the drive-train.

Since the launch of diesel powered Beat in July last year, the General Motors have always been in the game with its amazing sales figures. The sales number continued to grow even in the unfavorable times of the Indian auto sector. The competition becomes stiffer for the contenders like Ford Figo and Maruti Swift hatchback.
Recently, General Motors has announced the hike in the prices of its vehicle, which ranges from Rs 3,000 to Rs 15,000. This will affect the price of best selling Beat diesel as well besides other vehicles such as small car Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Tavera Neo3 MPV along with Chevrolet Cruze.
